Q: What Led You to Start Using
Cloth Diapers?
A: Endless laundry, a smelly
house, flats, pins, and rubber pants - that's what I thought
cloth diapers meant. My husband had suggested them more
than once, but when Dana, my sister-in-law gave me a startup
assortment of cloth diapers, I knew that diapers this cute
needed a second look. I did a lot of research and found
cloth diapers to be a better choice for my baby, a better
choice for the environment, and even a better choice
economically. Thanks again, Dana!
Q: How did you go
about making cloth diapers your business?
A:
I want to find the moms out there that think like I did and supply
them the information and resources needed to understand and try
cloth diapering. I also want to encourage and support moms who have
made cloth diapering their choice. I hope to assist all moms in
finding what works for them and fulfilling all there cloth diapering
needs (and wants)These desires led me to creating A Baby
Connection.
Q: Was starting your business difficult?
A: Well, I'm just
getting started, but already I've seen challenges. The biggest
hurdle I've faced so far is capitol. It's taken months of
saving and planning, and personal budget cuts. I've even
started selling personal items, such as a stroller and some of
our furniture, to raise funds - my husband cut my off when I
suggested selling his Bowflex! He has however been a big help
with the website. It has been hard work so far, but it's
exciting and I love it!
Q: How do you manage
to run a business with small children?
A:
I could not do this without the
support of my husband. I told him what I wanted to do and he has
been there every step. He helps in the evening so that I am able to
work. Also, nap times and bed times are work times. I usually work
until 2 (sometimes 3) in the morning.
Q: What does your home office/work space
look like?
A: My desk is our kitchen table. My
husband's job frequently allows him to work from home and he works
across from me. My Medela pump is always close by. There are times
when I’m working, I am holding the baby or the preschooler is
playing with playdoh right next to me. Our daughter's room is half
nursery half storage room. The hallway closet hold office supplies
and packaging materials.
Q: What Is The Most
Rewarding Thing About Running Your Home Business?
A: I love being a mom - and working
from home allows me to be mom. I love meeting new people and
sharing about cloth diapers. A Baby Connection lets me do both!
