Looking for new types of cloth diapers and great prices? Consider becoming a diaper tester.

When many WAHM (work at home mom) diaper makers first explore the diaper making business they need willing mamas and babies to “test” run their diapers and give feedback. These WAHMs offer their tester diapers for minimal amounts of money, usually just enough to cover supplies and shipping and in return they ask you to give feedback, usually by filling out a questionnaire. This is a great way to get cheap diapers AND try new styles. You are also providing a service to the diaper maker.

If you are interested in becoming a tester….the best way to find WAHMs that need this service is to join diaper discussion groups and forums. This is usually where they announce their plans to start a new diapering line and request a certain number of testers. Good luck!

How do you handle cloth wipes while you are out and about? There are many simple solutions for this challenging issue:

1. Get a travel size squirt bottle and fill with your favorite wipes solution or just plain old water. Just squirt your wipes and use.

2. Pre-wet the wipes and place in a plastic baggie for outings.

3. Wet wipes with a bottle of water such as Evian. You can use the bottle for drinking too.

4. Wet cloth diaper wipes at the nearest water fountain or bathroom sink.

AND what do you do with soiled wipes? Just toss them in your wetbag with the soiled diapers…easy as pie. It is also helpful to bring a few washy wafers or baby bits wipe solution mixes that can be easily dropped in a water bottle or squirt bottle just in case you leave home without a pre-made solution.

So how many diapers will you need for a newborn?

A newborn will need about 10-12 changes a day for the first few months. So a good figure to start out with is 3 dozen diapers. This could be 3 dozen prefolds or fitteds and 8-10 covers or perhaps 3 dozen AIOs or AI2s. You can pick and choose what will work best for you and many times the newborn phase is the expirimental time you use to figure out which system works best for your family.

You may want to try one of the numerous sampler packs available on the market that provide you with several different diaper types so you can try out each different type. AND of course remember that you will need certain accessories too, such as cloth wipes, a wipes solution, a diaper pail or tote, some doublers perhaps and a wet bag for outings.
