A Green Disposable Diaper

If you don’t follow the latest news in regards to diapering you may have easily missed the recent announcement that an Israeli man, Arie Axlerad, has made the first “green” disposable diaper. His promotion of the product is so compelling that he actually eats a spoonful of the super absorbent polymer developed by his company, Exotech Bio Solutions. This polymer is the main component of his “green” diaper. His company is quick to point out all of the harmful effects of the disposable diapers available on the market today.
Of course these findings are not a surprise to The Diaper Jungle - See our Disposable Diapers Exposed article
Axlerad says interest in this product is high. “In many countries, people are so desperate to find an environmentally better solution that they are returning to cloth diapers. It’s not that people want to go back to cloth. If they have a real alternative they will switch to it.”
While I have my reservations about the authenticity of this “green” disposable diaper, I do staunchly disagree with the comment above. There are numerous reasons to cloth diaper besides the obvious environmental factor, such as baby’s comfort and allergic reactions to chemicals found in disposable diapers. This cloth diapering mom at least, will not stop using cloth if and when Axlerad’s “green” diaper becomes available on the market.
Here is the article about this diaper.
