Marketing Tips for Your Cloth Diaper or Natural Products Business

******

The following is a collection of tips that many cloth diapering WAHMs and WAHMs in other related businesses have used to help market their businesses to new levels of success. Making just a few changes here and there to your marketing strategy can help you widen your focus and reach out to an even broader range of potential customers. It won't happen overnight but you will be on your way!!

1. Purchase a month of advertising in various places and track traffic from each. Stick with what works and drop what doesn’t. Also look to advertise in months that big events going on like the WAHMchicks Fluff Factory auctions.

2. Buy listings in high ranking directories. Their search engine ranking helps boost yours. Same with associations. Track traffic from all of them, but remember, even if you are not getting daily traffic from them, they are likely helping boost your search engine traffic.

3. Run auctions on several auction houses….not because you need to sell there but because it is like advertising for .60 cents or less a week in a high traffic area.

4. Write articles and submit them to family content sites. Every site that publishes your unique content will provide a link to you. This is not hard to do so take advantage of it.

5. Network online and off, with potential customers and other WAHMs. Build relationships and help each other cross promote.

6. Take classes in web marketing and search engine optimization. There is always a lot to learn in these areas and being up to date on all the latest information will help you reach the top.

7. Swap banners  and links with reputable businesses that provide a valuable source of information or products for your customers. You may do more harm then good if the business you swap with is ranked low with search engines, not indexed in them or heaven forbid, banned by them. So I tread carefully there.

8. Look for places to submit your site for a free link that is relevant to your site. There are many places to submit links that are free, no return link or money required. Just make sure they are site relevant and reputable.

9. Send out press releases whenever you have something newsworthy to share.

10. Join a WAHM congo or comparable type organization if they have a good following. Again track your traffic or sales.

11. Work locally. Put up tag style flyers on community bulletin boards. See this page for a template.

12. Get free business cards from VistaPrint. Or better yet, buy 250 cards for $10.00 shipped and they will not have Vista Print's information on the back. Many WAHMs buy lots of affordable business cards from them in all styles for very cheap so that they do not feel like they are wasting money by passing them out everywhere. Once you buy some from them you'll likely get monthly sales flyers so that you can always get them for cheap too…even the personalized, glossy ones.

13. For FREE advertising go to your local library and slip a business card  or flyer into all the books related to pregnancy, childbirth, and care for infants and babies. This is a great way to reach expecting or new moms and get the word out about cloth diapering!

14. Contact local news media about doing a story or interview. Send them a press kit and follow up with a phone call. Let them know you have a great untapped story for them!
